Stop the Cable TV Tax

More taxes if you don’t act

The Michigan Legislature is considering a plan to impose a 40% “fee” increase on all Michigan cable TV customers — homeowners, apartment dwellers, restaurants, hair salons, bowling alleys, and anybody who has cable TV service — to pay for lavish new studios and equipment used by public, education and government (PEG) channel operators. This is a terrible idea.

Whether this proposed increase is called a surcharge, fee, or otherwise, the Legislature should VOTE NO on Senate Bill 636 and House Bill 5047. Tax increases on services such as cable TV will only discourage investment, harm job creation, and anger consumers, something Michigan cannot afford.  It’s time to say enough is enough. Contact your state lawmaker and tell them to STOP THE CABLE TV TAX.
